Help Birth the Spiritual Heart of Blue Deer Center
The Fire Pavilion is no longer just a dream. It is beginning to take shape.
For more than twenty years, Blue Deer Center has gathered beneath a temporary seasonal Fire Tent for ceremonies, teachings, retreats, prayer, healing, and community. That tent has served us well, but it is no longer able to hold the work being asked of this sacred place.
Now, Blue Deer is creating a portal for Grandfather Fire that will become the heart of the Blue Deer Center, a consecrated fire pit held directly by the earth and protected beneath a roof.
This will be a place where people gather to pray, to listen, to heal, to learn, to remember, and to be held in community.
The work is already moving forward. Site preparation has begun, trees have been removed, foundation work is underway, and the old barn is being partially deconstructed and prepared for much-needed storage.
In early October, the Timber Framers Guild will bring approximately thirty participants and experienced master timber framers to Blue Deer to help raise the pavilion.
It is a beautiful collaboration: skilled craftspeople teaching the next generation, many hands working together, and two nonprofit organizations helping create something that will serve generations of people that find their way to this sacred land.
The estimated project cost is $250,000. To keep the project moving forward, we need to raise the remaining funds by October 1.
