From Melissa Clare: Farewell for Now…

Dear friends, my experience as Program Director for the Blue Deer Center for the last three years has challenged and also delighted me in many ways. I have met many very wonderful elders and teachers, have deepened friendships, and have been blessed to spend days at a time sitting around consecrated fires – where else could you find business meetings conducted this way?

Yet, it is with a joyful heart that I move onwards, with the intention of building my Plant Spirit Medicine practice, spending more time with my local community here in Arkansas, and hopefully offering programs in collaboration with the incomparable Sufi musician Ustad Nizami to more venues across the states.

I sense that I have given whatever it was I had to offer the Blue Deer Center, and in return I have received many blessings, not least of which is the feeling that the beautiful land and river will live forever in my heart. I hope to return again many times. As I move on, I would like to invite you to help ensure that the programs I have set up for this year will be successful – we have some inspiring elders sharing their traditional ways, and they will be focused on topics that are very relevant to our times and our Sacred Fire community. Please do your part to help spread the word and to send a friend (or yourself attend!)
