Autumn Inquiry with Plant & Tree Allies

Plant I.D. and Phenomena

with Marguerite Uhlmann-Bower

The stillness of Autumn is at the edge of winter wildness, where the bounty of forageable greens is at their abundant end. Before the snow flies, learn to identify forage autumn seeds, fruits, and greens for they are our allies in wellness. And as importantly how we can be informed by their phenomena. The morning begins with the holistic view in how to explore fall plants and trees in all the virtues they hold. We'll walk Blue Deer grounds for a plant I. D. walk excursion and return with some specimens for a light meal.

The afternoon brings a full immersion experience for students with hands-on activities that hash out "what does it mean to listen to the voice of Nature" and then, "how do we listen and apply to our life". Through recognition of relationships between land and humans, and plants and humans, guidance is given to the pupil in how to use our senses to read the landscape, the tree, the flower, the seed. Guidance is also given in how to pose questions to an intangible void, and then listen ... the answers come as an alchemical surprise in whole, peripheral perspectives that are alive, tangible and lasting.

Know the land you live on. The plants that grow near you. Open up possibilities to partner with Nature. To live with, be with and read its landscape. Be the Nature that we are.
