Wisdom of the Divine Natural World

Plant Spirit Medicine as Spiritual Exploration and Discovery

with Eliot Cowan

My life’s work, I feel has been pointing me in this direction and reading Eliot Cowan’s book, Plant Spirit Medicine, called to me in a way I had not heard before. It’s the straw that broke the camel’s back. It felt like, “Okay. You have to go. This is a place you need to go to satisfy soul and life and spirit purpose.” This call was answered by Eliot’s ability to awaken an emotional feeling connected to concepts I had come across before. The conceptual part I got down pretty well, but there was this missing piece. It turns out the missing piece was the size of an iceberg. I was up at the tip, thinking, “I got a pretty good handle on these things.” But coming to the Wisdom of the Divine Natural World workshop, I received a beautiful introduction to what I hope is a very long-term relationship with the plant world. The ability just to listen to the plants opened up parts of me that had been closed for so long that I didn’t even know they existed and I can feel all of this wonderful emotion circulating through my body that had been stuck and crammed down and ignored and shoved to the side and now it’s all there in this wonderful presence. I feel graced by the plant world and nurtured by Mother Nature in a way that I didn’t know was possible. I discovered what looks like a small little door, but the world I walked into kept getting bigger and bigger and bigger. To say that I was blown away by it is the smallest possible way I could describe what happened here. Life changing without question—I feel like a completely different person.

Since the beginning of time, shamans looked to nature to understand the realms of wisdom and healing.

This course is for those who wish to explore the natural world and discover themselves. You may be a beginner or a veteran. You may be a healer. You may have no interest in healing. You may consider yourself talented or dense, spiritual or mundane. It doesn’t matter. Whoever you are, you are a child of the world, and your Mother has much to share with you.

In this largely experiental course we will delve into:

• Believing is Seeing and What You See is What You Get

• The World Forces: Sun, Soil, Mineral, Rain, Growth

• Emotion – How Do I Touch the World? How Does the World Touch Me?

• The Voice of the Seasons

• Learning Plant Spirit Language

• Plant Wisdom and How to Hear It

• Dream and Reality

• Ancestors, Soul and Spiritual Path

• Time Around the Fire

Program offered by the Plant Spirit Medicine Seminary in association with Blue Deer Center.

Taking the Wisdom of the Divine Natural World course was for me an incredible opportunity and blessing. [A]ll of my expectations in terms of the course material and his teachings were far exceeded. I have studied and practiced five-element acupuncture for many years and found Eliot’s teachings deeper and more far reaching than any other I have experienced. Learning to journey to the plant spirits and having time during class to be outside in the natural beauty of the Center, brought me to a clearer and stronger sense of the divine within me. The time around the fire with Eliot in the evenings felt like a perfect balance to the teachings of the day. As a group we laughed, shared stories and deeply listened to one another.

Since returning home from the class, my time at the Blue Deer Center has continued to reverberate through my life. Most obviously, I am proud to say I am now half way through the Plant Spirit Medicine Healer Training course. Additionally, I feel that my work as a healer and acupuncturist is stronger and more focused since I have returned. I now strive to bring the deep listening and open hearted joy that I felt while I was at the Blue Deer Center to my relationships. And last but certainly not least, I still hold the people I met close to my heart.
