Welcome Home Work Weekend
by Mellissa Rudder

As I arrive to the land in March to make the Blue Deer Center my new home, I recognize that this land is ‘home’ for many of you as well. And so, it is with the warmest of greetings that I extend an invitation to each of you to share in the beautiful experience of awakening this space and filling it with laughter, fire, and community during our 2010 Work Weekend!

On Friday, April 2nd we will be hosting a ‘Welcome Home’ Potluck beginning at 5 PM. Bring your favorite dish, delight in the culinary treats of others (including our very own Forest Perrupato), and gather around a social fire to share your hearts. Whether you come only for the potluck, or stay for the entire weekend, consider this your ‘Welcome Home’ celebration as well.

Saturday and Sunday, we’ll throw the doors to the Center rooms wide open, let in the fresh air and sun, and scrub away as we prep for the Program Season, while the bravest of the bunch will spend some time outside stacking wood. Regardless of the task at hand, the opportunity to play, visit, and eat while sharing in the joy of community and the spirit of the land will be priceless.

Room and board will be provided for the weekend so please RSVP. If you’re not able to attend, but would still like to volunteer for programs, or in other capacities, please email "mellissarudder@bluedeer.org". There are many exciting opportunities to connect with the land, fire, and the people this year! Home, sweet home!!
