Coming Into Autumn

The leaves are starting to fall off the trees, and the winds are bringing a new sharpness to the day. The light has brought clarity to our vision, with the Sun receding from its place high in the sky.

The Blue Deer Center has had a wonderful Spring of renewed growth; a Summer of true ripening of our purpose and place on this earth; and an Autumn that has brought forth the fruit of many fulfilled program participants, a firmer financial base, a new crop of Elders coming to the Center. Our structures have received new roofs, and a new wood-fired boiler has been purchased and is waiting to be installed.

It has been a true turning point for the Blue Deer Center.

The people involved in the day-to-day work of the Center have a commitment that has allowed all of this to grow and be supported. The staff of the BDC is working towards making the Center a Contemporary Home for Ancestral Traditions.

With appearance of the circle in the ice on the River, the arrival of the buffalo to the land and the return of Elders, we are receiving the signs that we are on the proper path, but there is so much more to do. This is my corner of the newsletter; so I am going to come back to my mission for the Center - raise funds to support the Center’s mission.

We, the community, have really come forward this year and helped bring some wonderful fruit to bear. But as you know if you have traveled to the BDC, we are still in need of support.

As we enter this new season, a season to appreciate what is important in our lives and the lives of our children, family and communities that we are a part of, please reflect upon the Blue Deer and following him on the path to learning and connection.

Please give a gift to the Center that is precious to you.

You can contact me to learn more about the many events that we will be holding and the gifts coming to the land.
