The Blue Deer Center is located in the Catskills of New York between Margaretville and Andes. Albany is the closest and most convenient major airport to use when traveling to the Blue Deer Center. The trip from the Albany airport to the Blue Deer Center is approximately two hours by car or three and a half hours by bus. If you are flying out after a program that ends in the afternoon or evening, we recommend that you book your outgoing flight for the following day. You can reserve a room at the Center for an extra night and take the bus in the morning to the airport.
Please let us know your travel plans so we know when to expect you and when you will need to leave. You can either call Linda at 845-586-3225 ext. 4 or email lindafelch@bluedeer.org. Please let us know your arrangements as soon as you can, but no later than 2 weeks before your program starts. If you are flying, please make sure we have your airline and flight numbers as well. Please also include your cell phone number if you have one (and plan to bring your cell with you). Thank you!

Please Note: The Driving Directions listed below are the easiest to follow, much easier than any of the Online Map Services.
Driving Directions From the Albany Airport:
- Start out going Southeast on Albany Shaker Rd/NYI-155 towards Wolf Rd. Merge onto I-87 South at about 1.2 miles.
- Take I-87 South from Albany Airport to Kingston (exit 19), 62 miles. This is a toll way, so be prepared to pay a toll.
- From Exit 19, go West on Highway 28 (the first right off the traffic circle) towards Pine Hill and Woodstock. This is approximately 58 miles to the Blue Deer Center.
- You will know you are getting close when Highway 28 begins to go thru Fleischman’s, Arkville, and then past the Hess Gas Station and the entrance to Margaretville (you will see a flashing yellow light overhead).
- Continue on for around 5 miles (you will pass a sign for the State Police and when the road begins to curve and the speed limit slows to 35, you are getting very close to the turn).
- You will see a blue sign for County Route 6, and a green sign for New Kingston Road. Turn right. We are approximately 1 mile up on the left after the turn for the Homestead Farmstate. You will see our sign for the Blue Deer Center and a driveway marked on both sides by large stone pillars.
- Turn left into the driveway and follow it to the Main House at the end. Welcome to the BDC!

- Take I-87 North (the thruway) for 96 miles to Kingston, exit 19. This is a toll way, so be prepared to pay a toll.

From Oneonta:
- Take Highway 28 Southeast for 30 miles. After passing through Delhi and on the way to Andes you will see a blue sign for Route 6. This is not your turn! You will pass thru the town of Andes first, where you will make a left turn to stay on Hwy. 28 where it dead ends. After leaving Andes you will be on 28 for about 15 to 20 minutes before you will see a blue sign for County Route 6 and a green sign for New Kingston Road.
- Turn left. We are approximately 1 mile up on the left after the Homestead Farmstate. You will see a large sign of the Blue Deer and a driveway marked on both sides by large stone pillars. Turn left into the driveway and follow all the way to the Main House at the end of the driveway. Welcome to the BDC!

The Bus from Albany Airport to Margaretville is about a 3 1⁄2 hour ride.
The bus picks up outside the terminal at Southwest Airlines.
- Daily Schedule- 12:25 PM to Kingston NY for transfer- Arrival Time is 3:47 at Margaretville NY.
- Fridays and Sundays there is one more bus at 5:50P.M. with two stops: Albany Bus Terminal and Kingston, NY. Arrival Time is 9:17PM
- For your return trip, there are two buses daily from Margaretville to Albany Airport. The first departs Margaretville at 7:18 AM and arrives at Albany Airport at 10:35 AM. The second leaves at 4:00 PM and arrives at Albany Airport at 9:00 PM.
- Fare is $24.75 one-way with transfer.
From New York City Airports you take an Airport Shuttle to the Port Authority
(check NY Airport Service: (718) 875-8200 www.nyairportservice.com for shuttle schedules and costs). Catch the Trailways Bus at the Port Authority. The bus ride is about 3 1⁄2 hours long.
- Daily Schedule is 10:00 AM-Arrival Time at Margaretville is 1:27 PM
12:30 PM –Arrival Time at Margaretville is 3:47 PM
3:30 PM –Arrival Time at Margaretville is 7:02 PM - For your return trip, buses leave Margaretville at 7:18 AM, arriving at Port Authority at 10:50 AM; 10:42 AM, arriving at Port Authority at 2:35 PM; the third bus leaves at 4:00 PM and arrives at 7:35 PM.
- Fare is $32.35 one way with transfer
* If you are taking the bus, please call us at 845-586-3225 ext. 4 or email lindafelch@bluedeer.org to make arrangements for pick-up at the bus stop in Margaretville as soon as you know your expected arrival time. Please call the Blue Deer Center at 845-586-3225 ext. 1 to confirm that we will be picking you up from the bus stop the day before you arrive. If you miss the bus or your travel plans change, please call the Center at 845-586-3225 ext. 1 to let us know.
By rental car or limo from Albany Airport:
A list of rental car companies that operate at Albany airport and their contact information can be found at www.albanyairport.com/car_rentals.php.
We suggest that you check out carrentals.com or priceline.com to get a reduced rate on a rental car. With PriceLine you can “name your own price” for a car and can often get deals that are about half of the regular fee. You may also want to check and see what times you can pick-up and return the rental car to save money.
We know of two limousine companies who drive to our area from the Albany airport. A Destiny Limo (518 587-5221) has quoted us a price of $195 each way, plus 20% gratuity. Hollywood Limousine (800 830-8797) has quoted us a price of $198 each way, including gratuity. Please check prices and cancellation policy with the company you select. Please keep in mind that there is limited availability of limo service on weekends during prom season.
