The
Blue Deer Center has created a home for teachers from ancestral
traditions so that they may share their wisdom with our people;
and so that people can come home to the Center and deepen their
connection to the Divine.
The Center is the home of Plant Spirit Medicine, and offers a number
of Eliot Cowan’s programs including Plant Spirit Medicine
classes, Healing Camps, and advanced training in Plant Spirit Medicine.
In addition to the programs offered by Eliot Cowan, we have welcomed
programs from other shamans and teachers since our opening in August
2005.
Here
are a few examples of programs recently held at the Center:
•
Sacred
ritual, ceremony and teachings with Malidoma
Patrice Somé, a shaman and elder of the Dagara
tribe of West Africa, and author of Of Water and
the Spirit and The Healing Wisdom
of Africa.
•
Men’s
Retreat with David Wiley and Marc
Gionfriddo. David is a shaman in the Huichol tradition.
Both David and Marc are Weatherworkers in the Nahua tradition.
•
Journey
to the Heart of Music with Scott Sheerin
and Myra Melford. These gifted members of the
Blue Paradox Band create a retreat space in which to explore
the mysteries of experiencing the world as music.
•
Women’s
Retreat with Deanna Jenné and
Sherry Boatright. Deanna is a shaman in the
Huichol tradition and a Weatherworker in the Nahua tradition.
Sherry is a psychologist and Director of the Sacred Fire Community’s
Lifeways Programs.
In addition to offering programs, the Blue Deer Center sponsors
the Huichol Art Project. This project provides
outlets for the Huichol people to sell their divinely inspired art
and returns the proceeds from sales directly to the artists, at
no profit to the Center.
A visit to the Blue Deer Center is transformational. We
welcome you to visit us. It is worth the trip!
